Wanted: Veterinary Specialists

Let us put you into the driver’s seat.

Buddy in the Driver's Seat

We are currently seeking Veterinary Specialists to add to the Azzore team. This is an incredible opportunity for a doctor looking for a new or first practice home.

Why Azzore?

In 1985, Dr. Terry Dew moved to the state of Arkansas and settled in the Arkansas River Valley. He was (and still is) the only boarded small animal surgeon in the state. As word of his services spread, he was inundated with referrals. His model has changed over the years. At first he traveled to individual clinics to perform surgery; then he cut back to performing surgeries only in animal emergency clinics in Springdale, Little Rock, and Memphis, Tennessee. In late 2008, he purchased a medical building at 2711 E. Parkway Drive in Russellville, Arkansas. The Azzore Veterinary Specialists center opened for business in April 2009. Because of the years of hard work Dr. Dew has put in establishing a large and loyal referral base, Azzore offers the unique opportunity of stepping into an already well-established and successful practice.

Pet owners in Arkansas frequently travel to neighboring states in order to receive specialty medical care for their pets. There is a huge demand for an Arkansas-based Ophthalmologist, Dermatologist, Internist, and as well as another Surgeon. We would like to help you meet that demand.

Why Arkansas?

Unless you live in the Natural State, you probably don’t know much about us. In fact, you probably have a misconception — or several misconceptions — about Arkansas. So, let us set the record straight with a few facts about our state.

The beauty of our state is hard to beat. We enjoy four seasons. Fall provides beautiful colors and winter gives us a small amount of snow (typically 1 or 2 days). The rest of the year you can count on Arkansas to remain lush and green because of our ample rainfall.

Arkansas is 53,187 square miles.  If you like to fish, boat, hike or hunt, you will feel as though you’ve entered Heaven. Here you can enjoy world record trout fishing on the White river, and recreational and white water canoeing or kayaking on the Buffalo and Mulberry rivers.

The State of Arkansas has seven national park sites, 2.6 million acres of national forest lands, 13 major lakes, and two mountain ranges. Scenic drives lead to breathtaking vistas in the Ozarks and the Ouachitas, more than 9,000 miles of streams and rivers provide incomparable canoeing and fishing opportunities, and over 16,000 publicly and privately owned campsites allow access to the outdoor world in every corner of the state.  You can find more information about our state on the Things to Do page of Arkansas.com.

Arkansas is a great place to raise a family. We enjoy moderate temperatures most of the year, although it can get a bit hot and muggy in August. The cost of living is lower here than in many other states, and housing and land is still affordable. Whether you want to live in town or out in the country, you can still travel from home to the Azzore Veterinary Specialty center within 15 minutes. We don’t suffer from the traffic congestion that many other states and larger cities experience, although during rush hour, there might be a few cars in front of you at the traffic signal. We have an excellent school system that is ranked 5th in the nation for education.  I’ll bet you didn’t know THAT about Arkansas! You can find out more about our state at the official Arkansas website.

What We Have to Offer

We think you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better opportunity than we can offer. This is a situation where you could walk through the door today and begin seeing patients tomorrow. We are fully staffed with well-trained, experienced Client Service Coordinators who will answer the phones, schedule your appointments, and greet your clients and patients when they arrive. We have highly trained and experienced technicians and clinical staff for examinations, prep, anesthesia, assistance in the OR, recovery and post-surgical care. If you have a technician you would like to bring along, that’s fine too! Our practice management software can be easily modified to suit your specific preferences.

Here at Azzore we believe that client communication is key to having repeat and referral business. We have systems set in place to ensure that the doctors who refer cases to you are “kept in the loop” on what is happening with their patients. We also use the internet and social media to keep in touch with our current and past clients through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube. Not internet or social media savvy? No worries. Our staff will post updates for you. However, if this is something you enjoy doing, we would welcome your participation as well.

We believe in taking full advantage of technology whenever possible. Our hospital boasts the only fully lead-lined veterinary radiology suite in the state, equipped with a digital x-ray system and a CT Scan for superior diagnostics. Late last year, we went “green” by adding solar panels, and now produce 1/2 to 3/4 of our electricity needs.  Azzore was thrilled to be accepted as Google Glass Explorers, and are looking forward to incorporating the use of Glass in the exam rooms and the OR for both remote consultations and continuing education opportunities for the veterinary community.

We offer a generous employment package with base salary plus production which will allow you to basically write your own paycheck. Benefits include paid professional fees, paid Continuing Education (including travel and lodging), paid holidays and vacations, a cafeteria health care plan, and a 401K plan with 4%+ matching employer contributions.

What are you Waiting For?

Some practices take the “my way or the highway” approach to management. We believe in letting doctors take the wheel and set the pace for their own career.

We are looking for the right person to join our  energetic team of high caliber, compassionate and service-oriented professionals.

If you want more control over how you practice veterinary medicine, call us today for a confidential interview.
