is a 1 year, 10 month old Yorkshire Terrier, who suffered from PSS. Dr. Belt at Benton Veterinary Hospital referred to Dr. Dew for surgery. Dr. Dew performed a PSS,liver shunt surgery. The prognosis is for an uncomplicated recovery after shunt surgery is good.

is a 7 year, 4 month old Irish Setter, who suffered from acute right rear lameness. Dr. Reeder at All Animal Health Center referred to Dr. Dew for surgery. Dr. Dew performed Radiographs and a CT scan. The prognosis is Good for recovery from the CT evaluation. The severity of the lameness is difficult to correlate with the changes in the right stifle. The report from Dr. Partington will define the changes noted in the sacrum.

is an 8 year old Doberman Pinscher, who suffered from a history of ataxia and pain for 6 month. Dr. Prewett at Rogers Avenue Animal Clinic referred to Dr. Dew for diagnostics. Dr. Dew performed a CT Scan and radiographs. The prognosis is good for recovery from the CT procedure, manipulations under anesthesia.The long term prognosis for dogs with disc disease treated surgically is good to excellent.

is a 6 year old Jack Russel Terrier, who suffered from bilateral rear limb paresis in 2012,within 48 hours rear limb function had returned but right rear had markedly increased tone. Dr. Gunter at Animal Medical Center referred to Dr. Dew for diagnostics. Dr. Dew performed a CT Scan and Cerebrospinal centesis. The prognosis is good for recovery from anesthesia and the CT evaluation. The analysis of the spinal fluid and the report from Dr. Partington will direct us toward a diagnosis and possible treatment.

is a 6 year, 9 month old Domestic Short Hair feline, who suffered from  intermittent vomiting, and signs consistent with string foreign body. Dr. Tallent at Conway Animal Clinic referred to Dr. Dew for an emergency surgery. Dr. Dew performed an abdominal exploratory,multiple gastrotomies, and foreign body removal. The prognosis is Fair for uncomplicated healing without further surgical intervention.

is a Poodle, who suffered from a luxated lens. Dr. Fulton at Faulkner County Veterinary Clinic referred to Dr. Hodgson for surgery. Garvin had previously seen Dr. Dew for a ventral slot surgery in January. Dr. Hodgson performed a Lensectomy. The prognosis is good for recovery.

is a 10 year old Rottweiler, who suffered from Left rear dysfunction. Dr. Spencer at Arkansas Animal Care Clinic referred to Dr. Dew for diagnostics. Dr. Dew performed a CT Scan. The CT evaluation provided conclusive evidence that Abigail has a very aggressive cancer that involves her pelvis, vertebra and spinal cord. Unfortunately surgical treatment or chemotherapy are not options for this disease. Abigail had a normal recovery from anesthesia and went home to spend time with her family.

is a 12 year old,Domestic Long Hair feline, who suffered from squamous cell carcinoma effecting the tongue. Dr. Spencer at Arkansas Animal Care Clinic referred to Dr. Dew for diagnostics. Dr. Dew performed a CT Scan. Due to the size of the tumor the only options for treatments were 90% removal of the tongue and a tube placement or no treatment with tube placement. Toto woke up from anesthesia normally and went home with no treatment for now.

is a 12 year old Labrador Retriever, who suffered from seizures. Dr. Ormsbee at Town & Country Animal Hospital referred to Dr. Dew for surgery. Dr. Dew performed a CT scan and brain tumor excision. The prognosis is good for recovery from anesthesia. The long term prognosis is poor because of the high likelihood of recurrence. The short term prognosis is fair.

The following patients were all seen for Cranial Cruciate Ligament rupture or tear.
This is similar to a football player’s ACL injury.

There are two surgeries that Dr. Dew uses to repair/correct CCL injuries:
– TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement)
– EFS (external fascial strip)

With either of these surgeries, each of these babies will have strict confinement for the first 2 weeks after surgery, and then gradually increased exercise (controlled with leash) for the next 8-10 weeks after that. Physical therapy and medical therapy, which could include Glycoflex III (joint supplement) and an NSAID called Previcox if not previously on a different NSAID, will play a critical role in the patient’s recovery.
