Consultation

a meeting for deliberation, discussion, or decision

Surgical Services with Dr. Terry L. Dew:

Before we schedule your pet for surgery, you will have a consultation appointment with Dr. Dew.

During this appointment, he will talk to you about your pet’s medical history and current condition, examine your pet, review any radiographs or medical records you bring to the appointment and offer an initial (or confirmation) diagnosis.

He will review options available for your pet’s condition and discuss potential outcomes, prognosis, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

If you decide to proceed with surgery after this initial consultation, the procedure will usually be performed the same day as the consultation appointment. Therefore, your pet will stay overnight at our facility.

Animal Diseases of the Eye with Dr. Mario J. Hodgson:

Before we schedule your pet for surgery, your pet will need to be examined by Dr. Hodgson. We will set up a consultation/exam appointment for your pet in order to confirm the diagnosis.

Dr. Hodgson will examine your pet, review any  medical records you bring to the appointment and discuss your pet’s medical history and current condition with you.

After diagnosing your pet, he will review options available as well as discuss the potential outcomes, long-term prognosis and post-procedure aftercare.

If you decide to proceed with surgery at the end of your consultation with Dr. Hodgson, the procedure will usually be performed the same day as the consultation appointment.  Cataract surgeries are only performed on Fridays and alternate Tuesdays. Our client service coordinators will try to schedule your consultation on one of the cataract surgery days if this is the suspected diagnosis for your pet. In most cases, your pet will be able to go home with you the same day.
